What to Look For When Choosing Supplements

Supplement quality is incredibly important. However, it’s hard to know (when looking at a supplement bottle) if it’s a reputable brand, high-quality and worth purchasing.

Here’s a breakdown of what to consider when purchasing supplements:⁣

- does the company follow good manufacturing practices (GMP)?⁣

- does the company do third-party testing to ensure the quality and purity of its products?⁣

- Is the product whole-food based, bio-available, hypoallergenic and gluten-free?⁣

- does the product contain any unnecessary fillers, sweeteners, artificial colors, artificial flavors, lactose, gums, wheat, hydrogenated oils.. etc? These are best to be avoided.⁣

- the form of the vitamin or mineral in the product matters too. Certain forms of vitamins + minerals are more bio-available to our bodies (meaning we can absorb them easier). For instance, Folate (B9), is preferred over Folic acid, as it is the synthetic form of folate. This form requires conversion to be properly utilized and absorbed in the body.

This information is incredibly important and I hope it provides you with some insight when choosing supplements. ⁣
